Okay, so I finally the clip from the Tyra Banks show that included the two Furries who, I just found out, had their accounts banned because... well I'm not sure why they had their accounts banned. *shrug*

Honestly, I think Tyra Banks it to blame mostly for the horrible antagonizing. Of course if she says something her crowd is going to follow her lead.

What is a furry? Hmm... lets repeat what ChewFox had said in quote. "Furries are people who have an inner animal that they like to celebrate. We celebrate it through drawing ourselves and wearing costumes and other such things."

In my opinion that's pretty damn close to what I think a Furry is, right?

Tyra goes on to ask if it's like costumes at the amusement park, and if they get turned on by going to Disneyland and seeing Mickey and thinking erotic thoughts. Honestly... when you say it like that... anyone's going to laugh and those not in the fandom will obviously think less of you. Even I laughed.

Tyra: Do you have sex with the costume on?
Chewfox: Yes.
Tyra: *very loud gasp as if she's disgusted*

Chewfox said it directly she would never have sex with an animal and it's nothing like bestiality. Furries don't go around fucking horses. She goes on to say that the furry suit is like an alternate ego, which it is.

Tyra: So if I wanted to come to your wedding I'd have to wear a thing on my head.
Chewfox: You wouldn't have to.
Tyra: So are you furry-monogamous, are you furry-polygamous? (seriously wtf, Tyra?)
Chewfox: We are very monogamous, its just the two of us.

Ok, so what people seem to think that they did an absolutely horrible job at representing the furry fandom by appearing on a talk show; a very popular talk show, and talk about having sex in a suit is what Furries do.

Idiots! Fucking idiots. Did you not hear her say numerous times that they celebrate and dance in fursuits? Did you choose to ignore the point she was driving that Furries were more than just sex? She said that 'they', as in the two on the talk show, have sex with the suits on. She never said that ALL Furries have sex with animal suits on.

Have a look at the prompt when they first start to talk about a Furries. I'm sure that Chew and Tom didn't write that prompt.

So, in my opinion it is Tyra that is at blame for poking fun at their pastimes by making, I will admit, witty commentary. If she had said nothing and let them explain I'm sure other people wouldn't think so badly.

Now on to the fact that they were on a talk show that at the time was sectioned on sex. Yes, it was very bad timing, they shouldn't have gone on on that segment, perhaps a different one. Yes, they also should have driven the point harder that the furry fandom is NOT just about the sex in costumes. But against someone like the world famous Tyra Banks, I doubt they could have gotten their point by without being interrupted.

So, now this couple have had their accounts banned, lost all their online friends, shunned by the very fandom they enjoy, and shunned by those not in the fandom. Do you think that's really fair?

In turn I believe you 'furfags' need to fucking chill and realize that it wasn't Chewfox and Tomcat's entire fault that Furries were given an even WORSE rep now. It's all of your over-reacting that is furthering in the decent of your fandom. Because when I see that clip, then look at your crying and bitching that that's not what you are, I turn and ask: Then what are you? Now I want to know what a Furry is. Please tell me. If it's not someone who has an alternate ego in an animal shape or that likes to celebrate by dancing and dressing up in costumes, drawing themselves as those animals and enjoy the fandom itself, then tell me what a Furry is.

In all honestly, I teeter on the edge of being and not being a Furry. I like the fandom for its art and nothing more. I enjoy anthromophic creatures. I have a fursona but I don't really treat him like he's myself. I don't fursuit, I don't go to fur-cons, and I don't associate myself with other Furries. I am myself and nothing more. Just someone who enjoys a broad band of art. If you came up to me and called me a Furry I'd chuckle and shrug. "If you want to call me that, I don't care. But I don't see myself as a furry. I'm not that into it."

Even though I'm like that, teetering on the edge, it still pisses me off went people over exaggerate things. I learned a new word and its meaning the other day. The term "Straw man" argument. Wikipedia it, you might understand what I'm thinking about those 'furfags' and their flames.

*sigh* End of rant. Sorry for the term 'furfags'. I never say that... but I felt that it was appropriate and in context.
